A Different Perspective
Choose a different character from the story, novel, or play you are reading and re-write any scene from the literature from that character's perspective. This is good for any story that has an unreliable narrator and/or first person narration.

Plot elements/chosen scene
4: Exemplary
Excellent choice of scene. The chosen scene is important to the story, stays true to the original story in terms of outcomes.
3: Proficient
Good choice of scene. The chosen scene is relevant to the the story and basically stays true to the story in terms of outcomes.
2: Emerging
Chosen scene may be important to the story but the outcome is somewhat different to original story. Another possibility is that the scene is not very important to the story and/or the outcome is somewhat different.
1: Needs Improvement
Chosen scene has little importance to the story and/or the outcome is drastically different from the original story.
Character voice/perspective
4: Exemplary
Excellent job. The scene is creatively written in a different character's voice, giving the reader a different perspective on what is going on in the book while staying true to the story. The contrast between the protagonist's perspective and the chosen character is clear, evident, and interesting to read.
3: Proficient
Good job. The scene is effectively written in a different character's voice, giving the reader a different perspective on what is going on in the story while mostly staying true to the original story. There is evidence of a contrast between the chosen character's perspective compared to the original story. Good basic creativity that sparks reader interest most of the time while reading the essay.
2: Emerging
The scene shows some contrast between the original narrator's perspective and the perspective of the chosen character but there are moments when it is difficult to distinguish between this character's perspective and the original narrator from the story. Creativity and reader interest is evident only at certain points.
1: Needs Improvement
Little to no contrast is evident between the original narrator perspective and the chosen character's (for this essay) perspective. Little to no creativity and does not spark reader interest.
Spelling, Grammar, and neatness.
4: Exemplary
Few to no spelling and grammar errors. Typed and/or neatly written.
3: Proficient
A few errors in spelling and grammar but not enough to cause confusion. Typed or neatly written in ink.
2: Emerging
Some errors in spelling and grammar are evident, causing confusion at some points. Handwritten in pencil and/or sloppy.
1: Needs Improvement
Many errors in spelling and/or grammar, consequently causing many moments of confusion. Sloppy and difficult to read.
