Create A Still Life Drawing Still Life Drawing #1 Students chose objects to create a table top still life. Four or more items have to be utilized. Students must decide on composition and apply shading techniques with highlights using a pencil. Create a Still Life
	Poor 69 pts	Fair 85 pts	Good 100 pts
Outline/Contour Drawing	Poor Did not attempt to draw what he/she saw. No use of axis or contour lines. Too much negative space left on picture plane.	Fair Attempted to draw what he/she saw. Some use of axis/contour lines used. Good composition but drawing did not seem completely finished.	Good Student neatly drew what he/she saw. Strong use of symmetry in proportion of objects and great balance of positive and negative space. Included background elements.
Composition	Poor Did not attempt to create a composition, just drew some objects.	Fair An attempt at composition was made but was an "easy" arrangement needed more thought.	Good Composition was well thought out. Objects were selected with a theme or purpose. There was variation and unity among the objects. The objects were placed in an interesting way.
Shading with highlights	Poor Did not apply shading. Did not apply highlights.	Fair An attempt at shading was made but was messy or more shading needed. An attempt at highlighting was made but was messy or more highlighting needed.	Good Shaded neatly using both shading techniques. Highlighted correctly and neatly using highlighting techniques.
Work Ethic	Poor Did not stay on task and / or show respect. Talkative.	Fair Stayed on task, but could have applied themselves more.	Good Stayed on task and made wise use of time and classroom materials, and artwork.
