Word Choice	Needs Improvement The words used do not paint a very clear picture in the reader's head. Some of the words do not make sense in this piece of writing.	Good Some of the words and phrases in your poem create an image in the reader's head. Some words are more vague and less descriptive.	Excellent Your words paint a picture of that moment in time. The reader has a vivid image in his/her head when reading your poem.All of the senses were infused into this one piece of writing.
Voice	Needs Improvement The reader does not hear your voice in this piece of writing. The words do not help depict your style and your mood in this piece. Use your own words...be yourself!	Good Your voice is heard faintly in the piece of writing. Some feelings may be missing and need to be shared to create the mood.	Excellent Your voice was speaking right to the reader. It might make the reader laugh, cry, or sigh.
Conventions	Needs Improvement Capitals or punctuation may be correct for the poem, but the format lacks a sense of smoothness and therefore the mood is lost in the line breaks.	Good Punctuation is basically correct and capitals are appropriate, but the format is not conducive to poetry. The flow is not as smooth with the line breaks used in this piece.	Excellent Punctuation and grammar smoothly guide the reader through the piece. Capitals are handled well and formatting is complete with appropriate line breaks.
