GRADE 7 HISTORY NOTEBOOK RUBRIC 
This rubric will assess your History notebook. Your notebook will be collected periodically during the trimester and graded according to the following 3 criteria using 5 levels.

Every answer is exceptional. The student appears to grasp the concepts being assessed and the answers illustrate an insight that exceeds grade level expectations.
Neatness

Poor

The notebook is sloppy. Excess erasures and/or marks are present. There is little/no labeling of the date/assignment. The student will have great difficulty using this notebook as a study tool.
Fair

The notebook is legible, but could be neater. Labels are minimal and/or haphazard. Although the student could use the notebook as a study tool, it is not easy to use.
Good

The notebook is neat enough for the student to use as a study too. The writing is acceptable.
Excellent

The notebook is neat, legible and clearly labels all assignments. It will make a good study tool.
Exemplary

The notebook is neat, legible and clearly labels all assignments. The student clearly spent extra time organizing notes - sometimes re-organizing sections and adding extra information & insights.
PunctualityEffort

Poor

Notebook work was frequently late. Some work was stapled into the notebook either because it was late or the notebook was left at school when it should have been taken home.
Fair

Notebook work was occasionally late and/or handed in incomplete.
Good

Notebook work was almost always handed in on time. The answers were complete and showed good effort.
Excellent

Notebook work was always handed in on time. The answers were complete and showed considerable effort - occasionally exceeding grade-level expectations.
Exemplary

Notebook assignments were always handed in on time. The answers were complete - frequently exceeding exceeds grade level expectations.
