Newspaper Project Newspaper Project Students are to create a one page newspaper, covering the non-fiction text of Jonah.The Newspaper should include headline news, an editorial, application point, as well as other creative items such as pictures, a advice column or sports column, advertisements, etc. Rubric Code: K535WC By Amy_Beeman Ready to use Public Rubric Subject: English Type: Project Grade Levels: 6-8

Knowledge/Understanding	Below Level 1 Student has not met minimum expectations.	50-59% Level 1 Student is struggling in their grasp of the information in the text. Report is incomplete and/or inaccurate.	60-69% Level 2 Covers a fair amount, but is missing some of the main ideas of the play. Report is nearly complete and accurate.	70-79% Level 3 Newspaper is based on information provided in the text and course notes, a decent knowledge of the material is evident.	80-100% Level 4 Student is in command of the material and shows through and insightful information based on the text.
Thinking/Inquiry	Below Level 1 Student has not met minimum expectations.	50-59% Level 1 Very minimal amount of work has been done. Highly lacking in effort and/or creativity.	60-69% Level 2 Fair amount of effort and creativity has been put forth. Newspaper includes at least one article.	70-79% Level 3 Considerable amount of effort and creativity has been put forth. Newspaper includes at least two articles.	80-100% Level 4 Obvious amounts of effort have been made. Newspaper is complete with an accurate report of the events in the text.
Communication	Below Level 1 Student has not met minimum expectations.	50-59% Level 1 Student mumbles and incorrectly pronounces terms, and speaks too quietly for students at the back of the class to hear.	60-69% Level 2 Student's voice is low.
