Sculptures in the Style of Alberto Giacometti: Mythological 
The student will: 1. select, research, and write a description of a mythological figure 2. create sketches of several possible designs that illustrate the characteristics of their figure 3. select the design that best communicates the characteristics of the figure 4. create an armature using newspaper and wire attached to a cardboard base 5. cover the armature with plaster gauze 6. file the surface to smooth and/or add plaster to create the desired surface 7. assess the success of the sculpture using the defined criteria 8. write an artist statement/label that includes a description of the mythological character and an explanation of the sculpture design
