Who or what	Poor Does not have who or what in the sentence.	Fair Used common nouns to tell about the who or what in the sentence.	Good Used a proper noun to tell about the who or what in the sentence. Used describing words to tell more about the who or what.
Action Words	Poor There are no action words in the sentence.	Fair Used one simple action word in the sentence. There are no details telling about the action.	Good Used action words in the sentence. Used many colorful words to describe the action.
When or Where	Poor Sentence does not tell when or where.	Fair Sentence tells when or where, but there is little detail about the when or where part of the sentence.	Good The writer used the when/where part of the sentence using details that tell the exact place or time in the sentence.
