At least 3 or more characteristics for each.	Proficient Includes explanations of characteristics of the 3 states of matter. Missing some characteristics.	Poor Includes a few explanations of characteristics of the 3 states of matter. Missing most characteristics.	Incomplete Includes incomplete notes and explanations of characteristics of the 3 states of matter.
Matter is made of particles. 25 pts Show and describe how the particles are arranged in each state of matter.	Excellent All graphics support the understanding that matter is made of particles.	Proficient Most of the graphics support the understanding that matter is made of particles.	Poor The graphics partially demonstrate an understanding that matter is made of particles.	Incomplete The graphics do not demonstrate an understanding that matter is made of particles.
Movement of particles. 25 pts Show & explain how the particles move in each state of matter.	Excellent Model shows a complete understanding of the movement of particles with supporting graphics.
