Skill 1- Throwing
Does Not Meet Standard
Attempts to place the throwing-arm side of body away from the target, attempts to step toward the target, attempts to raise the arm at elbow and throws accurately to target less than 40% the time.
Needs Improvement
Demonstrates proper body stance, raises arm at elbow, steps toward the target with the opposite foot, and throws accurately to target 60% of the time.
Meets Standards

Attempts to stand with the left side of the body toward the pitcher, attempts to face the plate, and attempts to kick through the ball 40% of the time.

Demonstrates proper body stance, uses correct approach, keeps eye on ball, and kicks the ball 60% of the time.
Meets Standards
Demonstrates and applies proper body stance, uses correct approach keeps eye on ball, and swings throughly 70% of the time.
Exceeds Standards
Consistently demonstrates proper body stance, uses correct approach, and kicks the ball 80% of the time.
Skill 3- Base Running
Does Not Meet Standard
Attempts to run to first base and may overrun it. Runs to first base 40% of the time.
Needs Improvement
Runs to first base, tries to stay on base when the batter hits the ball, does not steal. Runs hard and purposefully toward first base 60% of the time.
Meets Standards
Stays on base until the ball is hit, the runner touches every bag, and runs hard to every base 70% of the time.
Exceeds Standards
Touches every base, stays on base until the batter hits the ball. Runs hard to first base and on every base, and touches every base 80% of the time.
Skill 4- Implementing Skills
Does Not Meet Standard
Rarely understands game-play situations and has to rely on others to perform necessary skill.
Needs Improvement
Sometimes understands game-play situations and has to rely on others to perform necessary skill.
Meets Standards
Often understands game-play situations and performs necessary skill without assistance.
Exceeds Standards
Always understands game-play situations and performs necessary skill without assistance.
Anticipates skills needed in certain situations and is able to also help direct others during game-play.
