Developing

Average memorization and understanding of technical elements (ie. footwork, quality of movements, body positions). Basic attention to specific details. Hesitates a few times in performance
Emerging

Has memorized some movements; little attention to specific details and execution. Watches others for cues.
Novice

Demonstrates very little knowledge of movement and/or is unsure of movements. Hesitates and watches others and makes several errors.
Rhythm/Tempo

Ability to stay in time with the music

Distinguished

Shows a complete understanding of tempo and beat and stays on rhythm throughout the dance.
Proficient

Generally accurate in beat, tempo, rhythms of dance sequences at least 95% the time
Developing

Shows a basic understanding of tempo and beat. Starts out in time, but eventually falls behind and/or speeds up or makes errors in rhythm 50% of the time.

Minimal attention to dynamic and style changes in the music, tempo and counts.
Novice

Is not on time with the music/counting

The dancer creates a believable presence in performance and is able to engage the audience completely through their performance. Dancer exemplifies the vision created within the choreography.
Proficient

The dancer consistently creates a believable presence in performance but misses several opportunities to engage the audience completely through their performance. Dancer demonstrates the vision created within the choreography most of the time
Developing

The dancer seldom creates a believable presence in performance and misses opportunities to engage the audience completely through their performance. Dancer demonstrates the vision created within the choreography some of the time
Emerging

The dancer rarely creates a believable presence in performance and does not to engage the audience completely through their performance. Dancer rarely demonstrates the vision created within the choreography.
Novice

The dancer does not create a believable presence in performance and is not able to engage the audience completely through their performance. Dancer does not exemplify the vision created within the choreography.
