Questions	1 Questions show no response to reading material. Shows no effort.	2 Questions show some response to reading. Shows some effort in understanding terms and novel	3 Questions relate back to text but show little some understanding.	4 Questions relate to text and show full understanding of terms and text.
Answers	1 Questions are never fully answered, nor do they show any sign of effort	2 Questions are answered at a minimal status. One word answers, or 'did not find answer' for most of the answers.	3 Answers show signs of some effort and thought. Answered seem to be comprehended by the reader.	4 Answers are fully answered in complete sentences and show complete awareness of the novels plot, conflict, and resolution.
Heroic Notes	1 No notes are taken and shows no effort. Also, it shows no comprehension of the novel. The characteristics of a hero are never noted	2 Have few notes. Shows no real comprension of novel. Notes are not sufficent enough to help. Heroic characteristics are very seldumly noted.	3 Notes are taken consistantly and show signs of effort in understanding the text. Chartacters of a hero are noted and show sufficent evidence of comprehension.	4 Vivid and detailed notes are taken throughout the entire novel. They show strong signs of comprehension of the heroic characterists as well as the novel itself
Notes to Chapters	1 Notes were not taken throught the novel on the chapter sheets. (1-4 sheets)	2 Notes were taken periodically. Too many chapters were on one sheet (5-8 sheets)	3 Notes were taken on a more consistant basis and show that reading was active (9-11 sheets)	4 Notes were taken very actively and show that notes were in agreement with the chapters.
