Persuasive Essays Task: During this writing unit, students were given the opportunity to explore a variety of people and things to form opinions about. They chose one topic to write an opinion about. They used the Writing Process to create a 5 paragraph essay that gives strong reasons to support their thinking. Excellent Student wrote a persuasive essay clearly giving their opinion with 3 strong reasons to support their thinking.
Organization	Poor Student was unable to organize the essay into 5 paragraphs.	Fair Student attempted to organize the essay into 5 paragraphs but did not include the introduction, detail paragraphs or conclusion paragraph.	Good Student organized the essay into 5 paragraphs that include the introduction, detail paragraphs and the conclusion paragraph.	Excellent Student organized the essay into 5 paragraphs that includes and introduction, detail paragraphs and a conclusion paragraph.
The Writing Process	Poor Student did not use the writing process to complete the final draft.
