Poor

Student read between 100 - 125 pages. There are less than 3 - 5 blank pages or ones containing illustrations or photographs.
Fair

Student read between 125 - 150 pages. There are less than 5 - 7 blank pages or ones containing illustrations or photographs.
Good

Student read between 150 - 175 pages. There are less than 7 - 9 blank pages or ones containing illustrations or photographs.
Excellent

Student read more than 175. There are less than 10 - 12 blank pages or ones containing illustrations or photographs.
Vocabulary

Number each word throughout the quarter. Don't restart numbering until the next Marking Quarter.

Student only had 0 - 4 words. Definitions may be missing or incomplete.
Poor

Student only had 5 - 9 words. Definitions may be missing or incomplete.
Fair

Student only had 10 - 14 words. Students defined EVERY word but definitions are vague and don't clarify the definition.
Good

Student had 15 - 20 words. Students found good definitions for EVERY word but some may still be confusing.
Excellent

Student had more than 20 words. Students found descriptive definitions for EVERY word that helped clarify understanding.
Literary Devices

Reading Responses

Students should use a highlighter pen to highlight any Reading Responses. This will make it easier to count at the end of the Marking Quarter.
