Development	Poor No development of the thesis through analysis.	Fair Spotty or weak development of the thesis leading to no or weak conclusions.	Good Good development of the thesis but lacking a strong conclusion or not fully integrating shot analysis.	Excellent Clear development of thesis argument with examples of function and meaning from the shots in the sequence.
Structure	Poor Poor description of mise-en-scene, action, and editing in the sequence.	Fair Spotty description of mise-en-scen, action, and editing.	Good Good description of mise-en-scene, action, and editing but not always as evidence of thesis.	Excellent Clear and thorough description of mise-en-scene, action, and editing as evidence to support thesis.
Mechanics	Poor Spelling and grammar errors that indicate lack of appropriate college level knowledge or neglect.	Fair Repeated and careless errors in spelling, grammar, or sentence structure.
