The artwork is planned carefully; a very good understanding of the characters is clearly reflected in the drawings. There are four separate drawings.
Approaching Expectations (C)
The planning is satisfactory; partial understanding of the characters is reflected in the drawings. There are three separate drawings.
Beginning to Develop (C-)
The artwork shows little evidence of understanding the characters and instructions. There are two or less drawings.
Technique / Skill
Exceeding Expectations (A)
Application is done in a logical, sequential manner,with clear attention to control and experimentation. The background is resolved. There are details in the features of the face.
Fully Meeting Expectations (B)
Paint is applied in a careful, logical manner, with control over colours and details. The background has been considered. There is some detail in the features of the face.
Approaching Expectations (C)
The artwork shows average craftsmanship. control is somewhat lacking, no evidence of refinement. The background remains unresolved. There are not enough details in the features of the characters faces.
Beginning to Develop (C-)
The artwork shows minimal craftsmanship. The image lacks detail; no attention to the background.
Creativity/ Originality
Exceeding Expectations (A)
The artwork demonstrates original personal expression.
Fully Meeting Expectations (B)
The artwork demonstrates personal expression.
Approaching Expectations (C)
The artwork demonstrates an average amount of personal expression.
Beginning to Develop (C-)
The artwork demonstrates little personal expression or problem solving skills.
Effort / Organization
Exceeding Expectations (A)
The student put forth a very good effort to complete the project; used class time very well. All grid lines are erased and there are no smudges on the paper.
Fully Meeting Expectations (B)
The student's completed work is above average, yet more could have been done; used class time well. Most grid lines are erased and there are no smudges on the paper.
Approaching Expectations (C)
The student put forth the effort required to finish the project, but it lacks refinement; used class time adequately. Most gird lines are erased but there are smudges on the paper.
Beginning to Develop (C-)
The student put forth little effort to finish the project; class time was not used well. The paper is messy.
