Introduction and Main Idea	Poor An introduction and topic sentence are not present or are unclear -The materials are not clearly, (or inefficiently) organized	Satisfactory An introduction and topic sentence are present but do not clearly introduce the topic -The materials are mentioned, but could be organized more efficiently	Good An introduction and topic sentence are present and clearly written -The materials are clearly and efficiently organized	Excellent An introduction and topic sentence are clear, and introduce the topic in an interesting way -The materials are clearly and cleverly organized
Supporting Details	Poor The paragraph is poorly organized, or is difficult to follow Very few added details -Very basic or irrelevant vocabulary, including linking words	Satisfactory The paragraph is somewhat easy to follow Some added details -Basic use of vocabulary, including linking words	Good The paragraph is clearly organized and easy to follow Addition of details add extra information -Good use of specific vocabulary, including linking words	Excellent The paragraph is very clear and is very easy to read.
