Fluency	Unsatisfactory Student exhibited virtually no understanding of questions.	Fair Many long pauses.	Good Fairly competent conversation (perhaps a few pauses).	Excellent Student showed all the qualities of someone who has great competence using English as the main or second language.
Subject Knowledge	Unsatisfactory Student does not have grasp of information.	Fair Student is uncomfortable with information and is able to give only two details.	Good Student is at ease with the information he/she heard and is able to give 3 details.	Excellent Student demonstrates full knowledge (more than required) by giving more than 3 details from the story with explanations and elaborations.
Voice (pronunciation + clarity)	Unsatisfactory Poor pronunciation, poor intonation, confused expression and/or difficult to hear or response too limited to even judge.	Fair Had difficulty with pronunciation, intonation and some confusion. However could derive meaning from responses. Perhaps a little difficult to hear.	Good Good overall pronunciation skills and intonation (some errors.) Close to appropriate volume.	Excellent Close to perfect pronunciation, intonation. Slight errors. Appropriate volume
Listening	Unsatisfactory Student lacked understanding or ignored some or all questions.	Fair Student answered inappropriately at times or failed to acknowledge a few statements but made an effort to respond to most questions. May be anticipating questions from checklist.	Good Student responded to all questions, perhaps slightly inappropriately at times but over all seemed to understand.	Excellent Student answered virtually all of the questions appropriately and seemed to understand a vast majority of the content.
