Meaning and Originality	Level 1 Memoir appears to be thoughtless or rushed, and may not focus on a significant event.	Level 2 Memoir somewhat addresses a significant topic. Memoir fails to answer "So What?"	Level 3 Memoir consists of meaningful writing about a significant topic. Memoir adequately answers "So What?"	Level 4 Memoir consists of meaningful writing about a significant topic. Memoir interestingly and effectively answers "So What?"
Language Usage	Level 1 Memoir is dry and void of emotional content. Language gives a poor or uncreative account of the event. Little use of sensory language.	Level 2 Memoir fails to stir the emotions of reader. Language use gives a satisfactory account of the event. Some use of sensory language.	Level 3 Memoir attempts to stir emotions of reader. Language use gives a good account of the event. Good attempt at use of sensory language.	Level 4 Memoir clearly stirs emotions of both writer and reader. Language use creates a clear and vivid description of the event. Excellent sensory language.
