Choral Assessment Rubric Chorus Participation and Musicianship Rubric Students in Polyphonic and Concert Choir will be assessed each quarter using the following rubric. Rubric Code: J66BC3 By jzajkowski Ready to use Public Rubric Subject: Music Type: Assessment Grade Levels: 6-8, 9-12

	Superior 20 pts	Excellent 19 pts	Good 18 pts	Fair 15 pts	Poor 10 pts
Follows Rules and Procedures 20 %	Superior No talking, or other disruptive behavior during rehearsals.	Excellent Very little disruptive behavior, including talking during rehearsals.	Good Sometimes may be disruptive, or talking during rehearsals.	Fair Frequently disruptive, or talking during rehearsals.	Poor Is disruptive every day during rehearsals.
Participation 10 %	Superior Frequently Participates in class, often asks thought provoking questions. Asks questions that encourage further study of the material.	Excellent Frequently participates in class, often asks thought provoking questions. Appears enthused about class activities.	Good Moderate participation in class. Appears interested in class activities.	Fair Seldom participates in class.	Poor Almost never participates in class. Appears disinterested in class.
General Attitude and Effort 10 %	Superior Exhibits an extremely concientious and spirited desire to learn the material, and enhance the learning of others in the class.	Excellent Seems interested in learning, makes an above average effort to gain the most out of learning experience.	Good A willing participant in the classroom, and exhibits willingness to learn concepts and course material.	Fair Shows litttle evidence of wanting to be in the class to learn the material and shows little respect for the learning of others.	Poor Shows a complete lack of desire for learning. Contributes nothing to his or her own learning and distracts from the learning of others.
Focus During Rehearsal 10 %	Superior Student always knows which page, which measure number we are rehearsing, and responds correctly to verbal and visual cues.	Excellent Student usually knows which page, which measure number we are rehearsing, and responds correctly to verbal and visual cues.	Good Student sometimes has to ask which page, which measure number we are rehearsing, and may not respond correctly to verbal and visual cues.	Fair Student usually has to be repeatedly told which page, which measure number we are rehearsing, and often does not respond correctly to verbal and visual cues.	Poor Student often seems unaware of what is going on in rehearsal, and is preoccupied with other interests or tasks that have nothing to do with Chorus.
Musicianship 10 %	Superior Consistently sings accurate pitches and rhythms. Tone quality is clear and well supported. Singing lyrical and musical phrases. Expressing the style of the composer's intent.	Excellent Consistently sings accurate pitches and rhythms. Tone quality is clear and well supported. Singing lyrical and musical phrases.	Good Usually sings accurate pitches and rhythms. Tone quality is clear and well supported.	Fair Sometimes sings accurate pitches and rhythms. Tone quality is sometimes out of tune or lacks support.	Poor Rarely sings accurate pitches or rhythms. Tone quality is often out of tune and produced poorly.
Concert Participation 40 %	Superior Attends 100% of the rehearsals and concerts.	Excellent Attends 99% of the rehearsals and all concerts.	Good Attends no less than 90% of the rehearsals and all concerts.	Fair Missed one concert during the school year.	Poor Missed more than one concert during the school year.
