MLWGS Interpretive Listening Performance Assessment Listening and Following Directions This rubric will be used to assess a student's listening skills. Rubric Code: J6586X By Dawngrois Ready to use Public Rubric Subject: Foreign Languages Type: Assessment Grade Levels: 9-12

Interpretive (Listening)
	Exceeds Expectations 4.5 pts	Meets Expectations 4 pts	Approaches Expectations 3 pts	Misses Expectations 2 pts	Little/No Attempt 1 pts
Comprehension	Exceeds Expectations Understands spoken language appropriate to his/her level consistently and is able to infer meaning not implicitly stated.	Meets Expectations Understands spoken language appropriate to his/her level consistently, but is unable to infer meaning not implicitly stated.	Approaches Expectations Understands spoken language appropriate to his/her level sometimes.	Misses Expectations Rarely able to understand spoken language appropriate to his/her level, though some knowledge of vocabulary items is evident.	Little/No Attempt Unable to understand spoken language appropriate to his/her level. Little to no knowledge is evident of vocabulary items.
Background Knowledge	Exceeds Expectations Applies background knowledge to facilitate interpretation of selection.	Meets Expectations Uses background knowledge to facilitate interpretation of selection.	Approaches Expectations Relates background knowledge and/or experience to selection.	Misses Expectations Understands selection, but cannot connect background knowledge to it.	Little/No Attempt Gives no response or related connection.
Synthesis	Exceeds Expectations Enhances meaning of selection with synthesis and uses main ideas and details to enhance the synthesis.	Meets Expectations Identifies key themes or ideas through synthesis.	Approaches Expectations Synthesizes with some awareness of event sequence or main ideas and details.	Misses Expectations Identifies some contextual events or ideas, but in random or nonsensical order.	Little/No Attempt Gives random responses or no response.
