Persuasive Speech 
Students will write a persuasive Speech. They will include an introduction, supporting paragraphs and a closing paragraph. All writing and editing will be done in class.

Student has written supportive paragraphs. The writer is not very persuasive and provides little to no support for their opinion.
Fair

Student has written 3-5 supportive paragraphs. Each paragraph is somewhat persuasive and provides support for their opinion.
Good

Student has written 3-5 supportive paragraphs. Each paragraph is persuasive and provides effective support for their opinion.
Excellent

Student has written 5 or more supportive paragraphs. Each paragraph is persuasive and provides a great deal of effective support for their opinion.
Closing Paragraph

Poor

Student may or may not re-state their opinion. The ending is weak and does not sum up the essay.
Fair

Student re-states their opinion. Some effective language is used to sum up their essay.
Good

Student re-states their opinion. They use effective language to leave the reader with a memorable message about their topic.
Excellent

Student re-states their opinion. They use effective language to leave the reader with a strong, powerful and memorable message about their topic.

There are too many spelling mistakes. Several sentences are not complete or logical.

Student has memorized some of their speech. More confidence and clarity is needed in the delivery.

Student has memorized their speech. It is delivered clearly and confidently. Student maintains eye contact with the audience.
