The Wall Student is to show comprehension of the facts of the story.
	Far Below Basic Student uses one word or no answers. 1 pts	Below Basic Student demonstrates minimal knowledge. 2 pts	Basic Student uses full sentences for responses. 3 pts	Above Basic Student explains facts using pre-essay formats. 4 pts
Who it happened to List the characters in the story.	Far Below Basic Student lists only one character in the story.	Below Basic Student lists three of the characters in the story.	Basic Student lists the two main characters and two other characters in the story.	Above Basic Student lists two main characters and three other characters in the story. Student identifies a missing character in the story.
When and Where it happened Tell the time and place of the story.	Far Below Basic Student tells only either time or place, not both.	Below Basic Student gives time and place with no detail.	Basic Student tells both time and place with added details using descriptive words.	Above Basic Student tells time and place using well thought out sentences.
What Happened Retell the main plot of the story.	Far Below Basic Student doesn't know the story. i.e. "Its about a boy."	Below Basic Student shows beginning, middle and ending thoughts. No depth.	Basic Student shows the basic flow of the story with sentences for beginning, middle and end.	Above Basic Student writes a five senteces paragraph telling the basic plot of the story.
Why it Happened What was the most important reason for the story?	Far Below Basic Student gives a one word answer like "cause".	Below Basic Student gives a one sentences answer.	Basic Student gives a reason with two supporting ideas from the story using full sentences.	Above Basic Student gives a reason with three supporting ideas from the book using paragraphs.
