Character/Problem	Poor The story is so unclear or incomplete that a character or a problem is not apparent.	Average The story either has a character or has a problem but not both.	Excellent The story has at least one main character that has to overcome a problem.
Setting	Poor The story is so unclear or incomplete that any kind of setting is not apparent.	Average The story either has a time or a place but not both.	Excellent The story has an appropriate setting (time and place) for the character & problem.
Problem Solved	Poor The story is so unclear or incomplete that any kind of solution to the problem is not apparent.	Average The story attempts to solve the problem but it doesn't seem satisfying to the reader.	Excellent The story shows how the character overcomes the problem.
