Warm-up

1. Legal serve x5 for 1 song.
2. Rally with forehand and backhand hits while counting. 1 song
3. Serve and finish the rally. Alternate who serves each time. 1 song

JR Bobcats

Does not follow the warm-up progression.
Modified

Follows some of the warm-up. Shows lack of effort and skill repetition. Shows inconsistent rotation on the paddle on forehand and backhand. Little to no shoulder or trunk rotation on strike.
JV

Completes the warm-up. Follows all the repetitions in order. Shows consistent rotation on the paddle on forehand and backhand. Rotates shoulder and trunk rotation on strike. Follows correct progression.
Varsity

Completes all of the warm-up. Follows all the repetitions in order and add in advance skills such as top spin or back spin. Shows consistent rotation on the paddle on forehand and backhand. Rotates shoulder, trunk rotation, and switches feet on strike.
Consistency of Rally's

Forehand and Backhand rallys.

JR Bobcats

Minimal control of paddle and ball contact. 0-5 Rally's
Modified

Confidence in paddle ball contact. Can return the ball 30-50 percent of the time. Paddle face is open and the ball is returned legally to opposite side. The ball stay mid to high level on table and is easy to return 5-13 Rally's
JV

Consistent returns with your partner. Paddle goes low to high on forehand strikes sometimes with the use of spin. Can return the ball a majority of the rally, showing control, pace, and mindfulness of where to hit it to their partner. 14-35 Rally's
Varsity

Excels at rallying by showing control, pace, and mindfulness of where to hit it to their partner. Forehand contact is low to high and backhand contract is low to high with a slight tilt forward. Student can control the ball and return the ball to their partner consistently with no change to their swing. 35 Plus on rally's.
Serving

Toss 6 inches, behind white line and making contact behind white line.
Order: Toss, my paddle, my side, your side.

JR Bobcats

Has 3 or more of the following issues on the serve:
-Illegal Toss/ Makes contact directly out of hand
- Contact in front of the line
- Double bounce on your side
- Does not follow progression: Toss, my paddle, my side, your side.
Modified

Sometimes has 2 of the following issues on the serve:
-Illegal Toss/ Makes contact directly out of hand
- Contact in front of the line
- Double bounce on your side
- Does not follow progression: Toss, my paddle, my side, your side.

Serves it to the same spot/
JV

Rarely has 1 of the following issues on Serves:
-Illegal Toss/ Makes contact directly out of hand
- Contact in front of the line
- Double bounce on your side
- Does not follow progression: Toss, my paddle, my side, your side.

Keeps the ball mid level, sometimes uses the corners or spin.
Varsity

Consistently serves the ball legally. Uses different technique with spin, speed, and placement of the ball. Looks for weak areas on their opponents returns and tries to hit it to that side.

Keeps the ball lows on serves. Typical gets Aces on 40 percent or more of the serves.
