English IV AP Dialectical Journal
	Poor 21 pts	Fair 27 pts	Good 33 pts
Vocabulary	Poor 15-24 vocabulary words with definitions	Fair 25- 40 Words with definitions	Good 40- 50 Words with definitions
Journal Entries	Poor 6 or fewer entries. Writing is skimpy and arbritrary.	Fair 7- 11 entries Quotations are abbreviated. Discussion is mostly understandable, although it may sometimes be incomplete.	Good 12-15 entries. Quotations are complete. Discussion is relevant and leads to understanding. Entry has enough length to present a full discussion.
Relation to book	Poor Writing is superfluous to reading.	Fair Reader can see that the student read the book; however, the student may have struggled to convey how the book stimulated their thinking.	Good Reader clearly gets a sense that the book has stimulated the thinking demonstrated in the journal
