The Totem Pole Project 
The student will assemble a totem pole using symbols that represent the student's family/personal story. The presentation must be accompanied by 1) a paragraph explaining the story that the totem pole depicts, and 2) the symbol worksheet.

The student presents the information clearly and displays a reasonable understanding of the information.

The information presented is not clearly displayed consistently throughout the project.
Poor

Not enough preparation was done for the presentation of the information. It therefore lacks the expected elements.
Short Report

Excellent

The student fully completed the short report, describing each part and how it represents his/her family.
Good

The student partially completed the short paragraph only describing each part.
Fair

The student had limited completion of the short paragraph, not including a description or representation of family.
Poor

The student attempted to complete the short report and lacks the necessary requirements.
