iRubric: Problem-Solution Rubric

Your essay begins with a question, a bold statement, or with a story illustrating your problem; You tell your audience what the problem is, clearly & succinctly, including its history, or summary of key points;
You specifically connect to a need the in the target audience. (If your target audience is not college students, tell us who the target audience is); You clearly explain the need for action

Your introduction includes a statement of the problem and you connect it to your audience in a general way;Your introduction is either too brief and incomplete or too long and should be more succinct.

Problem is not clear, and/or you fail to connect it clearly to your target audience and/or you fail to clearly state why the audience should care about the problem or take action.

Two or more elements are missing: problem, target audience, need for action.

Uses mature reasons and strong evidence;
Each reason clearly connects to the thesis; Evidence is pulled from a variety of sources
(e.g. primary, secondary, original research; etc); contains all 3 types of appeals; is accurate
