Chemistry Debate
A general rubric designed to inspire a lively debate about any topic at hand. The general style of the debate is: opening statement (3-5 min.) in the affirmative and the negative, rebuttal (3-5 min.) by affirm. and neg., and a closing statement for each side. (3 min) Other categories such as general chemical knowledge can be added.

1st speaker was clear, to the point and well-rehearsed. It is obvious that thought was put into the opening statement. It is easy for the audience to understand the arguments.
Teamwork

One teammate has clearly done all of the work and does most of the talking in the debate.
Partial
Arguments from each teammate can be identified but there is clear domination by one teammate.
Complete
At least one argument from each teammate are woven into the talking points of the team. Every team member takes part in the debate.
