Thesis Statement
Excellent
Thesis is clear and found at the beginning of the opening or first paragraph. Thesis presents a clear topic for the rest of the paper plus an assertion.
Good
Thesis is present and in the proper place. Thesis expresses the main topic, however it is not as strong as it could be. There does not fully express the main topic.
Fair
Thesis is not a true thesis. Thesis does not relate to the paper or express the main idea of the paper.
Poor
No thesis or main idea is stated.
Details/Examples
Excellent
The thesis statement is clearly supported with examples from the appropriate resources. Insightful connections are made between the statement and resources.
Good
The thesis statement is somewhat supported, but the support could be stronger. A few insightful connections are made between the
statement and the resources.
Fair
The thesis statement is weakly supported and is minimally supported. Only one insightful connection is made.
