Time management

Excellent

I used every minute of class to work on my project. I also used time outside of class to research, learn, gather materials, and complete my report on time.
Good

I worked everyday on my project for most of the class period. I wrote up a report that reflects satisfactory learning and submitted it on time without being reminded by my teacher.
Room for Improvement

All together, I took a couple hours off because I worked on other coursework or came in late repeatedly. I like to take breaks. I didn't really put much time in outside of class on research or report.
Unsatisfactory

"What project?
We got a project? What's a Stirling Heat Engine?
I was supposed to submit a report?"
Use of resources

Excellent

I demonstrated creativity and ingenuity and skill in selecting, collectiing and using appropriate materials to complete my project. I safely and effectively used a variety of tools to engineer our engine.
Good

I helped gather some materials to complete our project. I measured, cut, glued, and/or assembled, etc. multiple parts of our engine.
Room for Improvement

I didn't supply materials or many ideas, but I did put together a few parts when I was directed to do so. I didn't practice or learn any new skills because my partners did most of the work.
Unsatisfactory

I reluctantly touched material and/or tools and only when forced to do so by my teacher or team. I might have actually messed up something and made the process more difficult.
Team work

Excellent

My team worked together very well. I encouraged all members to contribute and I appreciate the contributions of others toward completing this task
Good

We finished the project in a timely manner and all contributed. Our working relationships were amiable and productive.
Room for Improvement

The synergism of our team never really took root. Conflicts about which roles or responsibilities we were taking plagued our team and caused angst and compromised work quality and completion.
Unsatisfactory

I don't know the names of some people who were in my group. We didn't really get along or talk much; as a result, we did poorly as a group and I hope to never work with them again.
Task completion

Excellent

We completed our engine and our engine ran well: meeting or exceeding our expectations. Our engine is an exemplar that others should try to emulate.
Good

We completed our engine and it ran okay or almost ran okay after we did some trouble-shooting. With more time and a little redesign it would run very well.
Room for Improvement

We tried to make it run but probably need to start over. No amount of troubleshooting is going to make this thing run. The plan was okay but the execution was shaky.
Unsatisfactory

We didn't even get to the point of trying to make it run. We quit or ran out of time because we just didn't have a good plan or a good game.
Comprehension

Excellent

I can completely name and describe the function of all the parts on my engine. I can teach others about the chemistry, physics, and the mechanics of my Stirling engine.
Good

I can name many of the parts of my engine and I explained in my report how the heat pump in my engine drives the flywheel.
Room for Improvement

I can trace the flow of heat, mechanical and electical energy through the system but i'm a little shaky on that closed loop of air.
Unsatisfactory

I know there's some heat and a piston but I am still trying to figure out how the flame makes the little thingy go up and down.
Safety

Excellent

I am a model of shop safety. Nothing is more important to me than practicing safety. I help others by reminding them to wear safety glasses and help others to use tools safely.
Good

I always wear my safety glasses and I don't use any tools unless I know how to use them safely and correctly. I am comfortable asking for help when I need it.
Room for Improvement

More than once my teacher had to remind me about wearing safety glasses or removing ear buds/ head-phones while working in the shop. More than once I did something that I realize now was potentially unsafe.
Unsatisfactory

I'm a trainwreck in the shop. My teacher and team won't even let me use scissors.
