Strong details are used to make the narrative come alive. All events are important to the narrative. Nothing goes off topic.
MEETS MOST REQUIREMENTS

Some details are used, but more are needed. Here and there, the narrative wanders off the main topic.
NEEDS IMPROVEMENT

Not much happens. Few details are used. The narrative does not take shape.
ORGANIZATION

ORGANIZATION refers to the structure of the paper. 20 pts.

EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS

The beginning is catchy and intriguing.
The events are in a logical order.
The ending wraps up the narrative and the life lesson is evident without being CHEESY.
MEETS MOST REQUIREMENTS

The beginning could be more interesting. Some events seem out of place.
The ending does not fit the narrative or the life lesson is not clear

is very CHEEESY.
NEEDS IMPROVEMENT

The beginning is dull. The sequence of events does not make sense.
The narrative needs a solid ending and life lesson is missing.
WORD CHOICE & DIALOGUE

WORD CHOICE refers to the writer's ability to create a mental picture for the reader. THINK: vivid verbs, specific nouns, and accurate, energetic, and varied modifiers. 20 pts.

EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS

Words are interesting and vivid, clear in meaning, and not repeated AND dialogue is used to add meaning to the narrative.
MEETS MOST REQUIREMENTS

Words are somewhat interesting, relatively clear in meaning, and repeated infrequently AND/OR dialogue is present, but does little to add meaning to the narrative.
NEEDS IMPROVEMENT

Words are uninteresting or dull, unclear in meaning, and repeated often AND/OR dialogue is missing.

CONVENTIONS refers to punctuation, capitalization, spelling, grammar, paragraphing, and formatting. 20 pts.

There are very few errors in punctuation, capitalization, spelling, grammar, and paragraphing.
