Good Includes most events from the beginning, middle and end of the story and they are in order.	Excellent Includes all important events from the beginning, middle and end of the story and they are in order.
Character and Details	Poor Calls characters by their pronouns and may have some incorrect information from the story.	Fair Calls characters by their pronouns, includes at least 1 detail from the story, may have some incorrect information.	Good Refers to characters by name and has some of the important details from the story.	Excellent Refers to all characters by name and includes all important details from the story.
Problem and Solution	Poor It is not clear what the problem is and no solution was attempted or could be understood.	Fair The problem is stated but not clear why it is a problem and the solution is hard to understand.	Good The problem and solution are fairly clearly stated and is somewhat logical.	Excellent Problem and solution are clearly stated, no loose ends.
Writing	Poor Limited understanding of grade appropriate conventions (eg. capitals, period and other appropriate punctuation).
