	Poor 1 pts	Fair 3 pts	Good 5 pts
Preparedness 40 % You have done all homework assignments and readings and so are ready to add to the discussion and/or answer questions when called on.	Poor - You have not done the assignment and are not ready to answer any questions about it. - You are not ready to add to the discussion and do not raise your hand to be called on.	Fair - You have done the assignment, but not given it much effort. - Your answer is not very thorough. - You infrequently raise your hand to answer a quesion.	Good - You are totally prepared to answer questions. - You are ready to follow up others´ ideas with your own ideas. - You raise your hand often to be called on.
Quality of answer 40 % Your arguments are clear and well supported.	Poor - You give short answers that are not well supported. - You can´t describe why you think a certain way. - You cannot provide the right answer or formula for numerical answers.	Fair - You have an opinion, but maybe it is not clearly stated or not well supported. - If you are providing numerical answers, you might have the right idea, but you are wrong in some way.	Good - Your arguments are clearly stated. - You have good reasons to support your opinions. - Where numerical answers are required, you give correct answers and can explain your methods.
Adding to others´s ideas 20 % When appropirate, you can add to, or refute another student´s arguments.	Poor - You do not add to the discussion in class by following up on others´comments.	Fair You either infrequently add to others´comments or else you are not able to articulate a clear counter argument.	Good - You frequently add to others´ideas. - When you have a different opinion, you can articulate a good counter argument.
