Project planning	Poor Needs to be pointed to a suitable project and assisted with writing of material and needs help gathering materials.	Fair Student has idea, but no plans. Needs help with materials and locating supplies.	Good Student finds own project suitable for skill level. Makes list of materials. Gathers supplies.
Project layout	Poor Student needs to have layout shown, step by step. Follows as instructor marks measurements.	Fair Student has some idea of the layout process. Is able to make some measurements.	Good Student follows plans independently. Marks out lengths and angles to be cut.
Preparedness	Poor Student does not come prepared to work. Does not bring plans, tools or correct clothing and shoes.	Fair Student is somewhst prepared for work; brings some of the tools and plans. Needs to be reminded to dress appropriately.	Good Student is ready to begin working on time, has all the plans and tools that will be needed. Is wearing proper clothing and shoes.
Tool usage	Poor Does not identifiy or use tools and equipment effectively.	Fair Is able to find some of the tools they will be using.	Good Is able to find and use all the tools they will need for their project.
Safety	Poor Student neglects to use proper safety equipment and is careless in their work. Does not keep area neat and organized.	Fair With prompting, student uses safety glasses. Student is somewhat careless about his work and does not keep area neat.	Good Student uses safety glasses, works carefully, and keeps work area neat and clutter free.
