Use of blogs	Beginning Student contributution is minimum and does not fully explain reasons .	Developing Student contribution is timely but does not give evidence of substantial contribution. There is limited reference to understanding the entry.	Strong Student contribution is strong, substantial and shows thorough understanding of the entry.	Proficient Student contribution is strong, substantial and shows thorough understanding of the entry.
Intellectual Engagement	Beginning Blog comments make limited referece to classroom discussion or web evaluation tools.	Developing Blog comments make some reference to classroom discussion or student's own opinions.	Strong Blog comments show strong awareness of key issues discussed. Includes a thoughtful student opinion.	Proficient Blog entries show strong awareness of key issues discussed in class. Student's own opinion is also present.
Personal Response.	Beginning There is no personal opinion.	Developing Opinion is present but is not cohesive or seems ill defined.	Strong Opinion is supported through links to other sites.	Proficient Opinion is well thought out and well expressed.
Engaged Writing Writing mechanics	Beginning Blog comments use incorrect grammar and syntax consistetnly making it difficult for others to follow.	Developing Blog comments show some evidence of correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc. Others will have little trouble following your blog.	Strong Blog comments show a very good command of Standard English and have flair and originality.	Proficient Blog comments show a good command of Standard English.
