	Emerging 2 pts	Meets Standard 3 pts	Exceeds Expectations 4 pts
Hand positions	Emerging Student makes attempt at times to have proper hand positions but most of the time is incorrect. Strings are often muted.	Meets Standard Student shows knowledge of hand positions but sometimes misses proper placement. Sometimes strings are muted.	Exceeds Expectations Student always keeps hands in proper places. No extra strings are muted on accident. The thumb is in the back and finger tips are used to mute strings.
Strumming	Emerging Student shows that they are aware of a rhythm but cannot continue to maintain it. The wrist is beginning to loosen up.	Meets Standard Student keeps wrist loose consistently but has a few stops.	Exceeds Expectations Student plays without stopping. The wrist is loose and allows for up strumming.
Chords	Emerging Student can down strum the C Major chord with ease.	Meets Standard Student can down strum the C Major and A minor chords with ease.	Exceeds Expectations Student can down strum C Major, A minor, F Major and G Major with ease.
