The scholar is generally focused, but arrives to class late and unprepared (i.e. no paper, no pencil). Has difficulty working as ensemble.

The scholar is focused; cooperative and puts forth effort towards improvement.

The scholar is focused and deeply concentrated in learning African percussion. Recognizes differences in rhythms and can accurately demonstrate in class; independently practices.
Rhythm/Tempo

Poor

Attempts to keep a rhythm, but gets off beat and speeds up or falls behind often. Doesn't follow beat in music.
Fair

Shows a basic understanding of tempo and beat, but falls behind and/or speeds up in places or makes errors in rhythm.
Good

Generally accurate in beat, tempo, rhythms sequences most of the time.
Excellent

Shows a complete understanding of tempo and beat and stays on rhythmn throughout the class.
