The body of the paragraph supports the topic sentence with meaningful details.

The paragraph does not contain a body of at least three detail sentences.

The body of the paragraph does not support the topic.
Satisfactory

The body of the paragraph supports the topic sentence but also introduces a new idea that is unrelated.
Excellent

The body of the paragraph supports the topic sentence with meaningful details.
Concluding Sentence

The paragraph ends with a concluding sentence that summarizes the topic sentence and the body.

Unsatisfactory

The paragraph does not contain a concluding sentence.
Needs Improvement

The concluding sentence does not recap the topic sentence.
Satisfactory

The concluding sentence recaps the topic sentence, but not the body of the paragraph.
Excellent

The concluding sentence recaps the topic sentence and the details in the paragraph body.
