Originality / Depth
Excellent
Poem is creative and original. Grabs reader's attention. Impressive. It is evident that the poet put thought into their words and innovatively conveyed their ideas and emotions. Poet understands depth, not merely structure.
Proficient
Poem is creative, thoughtful and carefully written. Shows effort. The poem incorporates several literary devices and figurative language which add depth to the poem.
Satisfactory
The poem may be creative and/or may be interesting, but doesn't demonstrate either depth or polish. Poem doesn't seem original or is lacking in several elements of poetry. (Poem contains some poetic elements but needed more work.)
Poor/Limited (0-2)
Work appears to be thoughtless or rushed. Ideas seem cliche, impersonal or unoriginal. Poem is lacking most elements or is too short to annotate.
