Observational Drawing	Poor It is obvious that the student did not look at a photograph or an actual leaf, because their drawing is neither the correct shape or size. The student did not create a correct contour drawing and may not have even traced it with glue. The application of glue is not neat.	Fair Student may or may not have looked at a photograph or an actual leaf to help them, as their leaf drawing is not the correct shape and/or size. Student created a contour drawing, but they may have had difficulty neatly tracing it with glue.	Good Student looked at a photograph of a leaf, or an actual leaf, to successfully determine its shape and size. Student successfully created a contour drawing based on this observation of a leaf and then neatly traced over this drawing with glue.
Use of Space	Poor Student drew the leaf very small and the leaf does not go over the edges of the paper in any areas.	Fair Student could have drawn the leaf a bit bigger in some areas. The leaf does go off the page in some areas, as was instructed.	Good Student drew the leaf big so that people would notice. The leaf even goes off the page in some areas, as was instructed.
Color Scheme	Poor Student did not choose a color scheme, either warm or cool. The whole project is a mix of colors.	Fair Student chose a color scheme, either warm or cool, but may have included, by accident, one or two areas of color that weren't in their color scheme.	Good Student chose a color scheme, either warm or cool, and stuck to it. Student only used colors in their chosen color scheme.
Use of Materials	Poor Student did not use the chalk pastels correctly. They did not create a "painted, ombre" look at all. Many areas need a lot of work.	Fair Student mostly used the chalk pastels correctly to create a "painted, ombre" look, however, there may be one or two areas that need a bit of work.	Good Student correctly used chalk pastels to blend colors and create a "painted, ombre" look.
Craftsmanship	Poor Student's artwork is very messy and unorganized. There are many areas that could be much neater. It is obvious that the student did not understand or correctly use the techniques that were taught.	Fair Student's artwork is mostly neat and organized. Maybe one or two areas could be a bit neater, but overall the student shows an understanding of the techniques that were taught.	Good Student's artwork is very neat and organized. Student went beyond the assignment, showing an understanding of the techniques that were taught.
