Arrangement Summative Students are to write an arrangement of a piece that has been approved by their teacher, that they have obtained on their own, for an ensemble of 3/4 people in their class. Pieces must be at a playable level, written in the correct range for the instruments and transposed correctly. Attention to balance in part writing must be given to have a successful performance. Use of Finale Software 20 %	Poor Was unable to use the program effectively.	Fair Had a lot of difficulties that were not successfully solved.	Good Was able to use the software to accomplish the task but could have used it more extensively.	Excellent Excellent use of the software.
Range 20 %	Poor Incorrect range for the instruments in the ensemble.	Fair Made several mistakes in range for the instruments in the ensemble.	Good Made very few mistakes in range for the instruments in the ensemble.	Excellent Wrote the parts in the correct range for the instruments in the ensemble.
Transposition 20 %	Poor Transpositions was done incorrectly.	Fair Transpositions were done incorrectly frequently.	Good A couple mistakes were made in transposition.	Excellent Transpositions were done correctly for all instruments.
Creativity 20 %	Poor Piece was strictly copied and transposed for the instruments with nothing changed.	Fair Not much was changed but an attempt was made.	Good Several things were changed to make the piece your own, whether it be dynamics, different rhythms, less/more difficult notes.	Excellent Piece was quite different from the original with things added or taken away. Different style, dynamics, rhythms, arrangement of sections, introduction, ending etc.
Balance/Part Writing 20 %	Poor Not any thought as to the difficulty of the parts for the involved instrumentalists/performers or the balance in ensemble.
