Pitches/Fingerings	Poor Student does not know correct fingering of notes. Is unable to play the notes in the proper order in the melody.	Fair Student knows proper fingerings, but is unable to play them consistently to achieve the correct notes in the melody.	Good Student knows proper fingerings and order of notes, but may miss a note, or have to stop and replay part of the melody.	Excellent Student is able to execute all notes and play them in the proper order in the melody.
Rhythms	Poor Beat is erratic, and student is unaware of the proper rhythms of the piece.	Fair Student is aware of the rhythms, but is unable to play them in time and tempo.	Good Student feels the beat, and is aware of the proper rhythms, but isn't yet able to play through the melody in time, or may rush through rests.	Excellent Student is able to execute the proper rhythms in time, maintaining a steady beat through melody and through rests.
Memorization	Poor Student has not attempted to memorize the piece, and is still actively reading the notes and rhythms.	Fair Student has partially memorized the piece, but still requires it for some parts.	Good Student has nearly memorized the melody, but may have to stop and recall, or check music.	Excellent Student can successfully play the melody from memory.
