I Have A Dream Writing Rubric

Spelling	Level 1 I sounded out some words by stretching them out and writing what I heard. <BR> My words have some beginning and ending consonants and some vowels.	Level 2 I sounded out words by stretching them out and writing what I heard. <BR> My words have beginning and ending consonants and some vowels.	Level 3 Words that I sounded out are closer to the real spelling (have word endings, blends and vowel patterns.	Level 4 My writing has most words spelled correctly and the reader can easily read what I wrote.
Sentences/Meaning	Level 1 I have a picture about my topic.	Level 2 My writing has at least one simple sentence about the topic.<BR> I have a picture about my topic.	Level 3 My writing has several sentences about the topic that have some detail and descrbing words.<BR> My pictures have lots of detail.	Level 4 I have several sentences and a picture that tell interesting information and details about the topic.
Punctuation/Capitals	Level 1 I did not use punctuation (periods or question marks). I did not use any capital letters correctly.	Level 2 I did not use punctuation (periods or question marks). Capital letters are not used correctly.	Level 3 I used punctuation and capital letters with some mistakes.	Level 4 My writing has correct use of capital letters and punctuation.
