Special Occasion Speech 
Students will deliver a speech based on a selected special occasion: graduation, retirement, wedding etc. Speech will be graded on organization, delivery and time.

Logical, coherent organization helped convey the speaker's message clearly. It was easy to follow & to understand.

The speaker used a logical order to deliver the information, but may have minor lapses in organization.
Fair

The speaker attempted to use an organizational pattern, but it was not always effective. Speaker rambled at times and/or did not stay on topic.

The speech was difficult to follow due to a lack of organization and rambling.

Vocal Quality: Rate, Pitch & Volume

The speaker's voice was loud enough to hear. The speaker varied rate, pitch & volume to enhance the speech. Appropriate pausing was employed and there was no verbal clutter

The speaker spoke loudly and clearly enough to be understood. The speaker varied rate, pitch OR volume to enhance the speech. Pauses were attempted. Some verbal clutter.
Fair

The speaker could be heard most of the time. The speaker attempted to use some variety in vocal quality, but not always successful. A lot of verbal clutter.
Needs Improvement

Audience had difficulty hearing and/or understanding much of the speech due to low volume. Little variety in rate, pitch or volume. Verbal clutter is distracting.
Eye Contact

The speaker did not seem prepared and/or lacked any confidence. The tone & attitude were not appropriate for the occasion.
