Beginning Recorder Student will play 3 note songs.
	Poor 8 pts	Fair 12 pts	Good 17 pts
Holding correctly Left hand is on top. Right hand supports recorder	Poor Right hand on top, Is unacceptable! Holding with one hand is unacceptable.	Fair	Good The recorder is held with the left hand on top. The right hand is supporting.
Fingering Tone holes must be fully covered. Fingering for B,A and G correct.	Poor Tone holes are poorly covered. Air leaks. Pitch is wrong. Fingerings are wrong for the three notes.	Fair Tone holes are mostly covered. Most pitches are correct. Fingerings correct.	Good Tone holes are fully closed. All pitches are correct.
Tounging Student begins each note with the syllable da to separate notes.	Poor Student does not remember to tounge. The notes are separated by whooing or not at all.	Fair Student remember to tounge (separate notes by saying da) most of the time.	Good Student tounges all notes correctly
Tone quality Student gets a good sound by controlling breath. Overblowing will distort the sound.	Poor Student blows too hard and notes are incorrect or distorted.	Fair Student blows softly most of the time with occassional mistakes.	Good Students tone is pleasant, pitches are correct.
Rhthmic accuracy Student maintains a steady pulse and holds the notes for the correct duration.	Poor Beat is not steady. Student rushes through the easy parts and slows down for more difficult sections.	Fair The beat is steady. Most notes are held for the correct duration.	Good The beat is steady and rhythms are accurate.
melody Student plays the correct notes.	Poor Student does not know how to play the melody. Most pitches are incorrect.	Fair Student plays most of the pitches correctly.	Good Student plays all the pitches correctly.
