Journal Entry Rubric Journal Entry Rubric Journal entries MUST be 5-7 sentences. No more. No less. If you are absent, write the word "absent" across the page for the date you missed. You will not need to make-up that entry. If your journal is missing 2 pts. (see scoring) will be deducted for each missing day. No exceptions. You will still need to complete your journal on a sheet of paper and staple it into journal. If you lose your journal, you are responsible for replacing it. Average Vocabulary is written and defined when applicable. - Content is inconsistent with regard to purpose and clarity of thought. -Date is inconsistently/ incorrectly written.	Excellent Vocabulary is written and defined when applicable. - Content and purpose of the writing are clear. -Date is correctly written at the top right hand corner of every page.
Format/Grammar	Weak Vocabulary is written and defined when applicable. - Paper contains numerous grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors. - Paragraph is inadequate/excessive in length.	Average Vocabulary is written and defined when applicable. - Paragraph contains few grammatical, punctuation and spelling errors. - Paragraph is slightly over/ under sentence length.	Excellent Vocabulary is written and defined when applicable. - Rules of grammar, usage, and punctuation are followed; spelling is correct. - Paragraph is 5-7 complete sentences. No more than 7. No fewer than 5.
