Persuasive Essay Rubric I will use this rubric to score and grade the completed persuasive writing essays for each group in 10th grade English. Rubric Code: G9C9B By erinmarks Ready to use Public Rubric Subject: English Type: Writing Grade Levels: 9-12

	Poor 1 pts	Fair 2 pts	Good 3 pts
Cohesiveness of Essay	Poor Structure of essay is incoherent with no clear flow from one section to the next. No clear stance is taken. There are 0-1 supporting reasons with no research evidence to back the reason.	Fair Essay is moderatly coherent with some flow and each part is loosely connected to the next. There is a stance, but it is not clearly stated. There are 2-4 supporting reasons with research to back 1-2 of the reasons.	Good Essay is coherent. There is a natural flow to the writing, where the progression to one part to the next is a logical connection. There is a clear and precise stance taken. There are at least 5 supporting reasons with research evidence to back at least 3 of the reasons.
Use of Persuasive Elements	Poor Through the lack of reseach and reason, the paper does not successfully argue the perspective and does not convince the reader of the stance.	Fair Through the use of some reseach and reason, the paper argues a perspective without fully convincing the reader.	Good Through use of much reason and research. the paper acheives it's goal of persuading the reader.
Length	Poor The paper is less than 1 typed page, with one inch margins and 12 font, Times New Roman.	Fair The paper is between 1-1 1/2 typed pages with one inch margins and 12 font, Times New Roman.	Good The paper is at least 2 typed pages with one inch margins and 12 font, Times New Roman
Research Citation	Poor No cited research included in the paper	Fair Only 1-3 sources are cited	Good All of the sources are cited.
Grammer	Poor Paper contains more than 10 gramatical and/or spelling errors.	Fair Paper contains between 5-9 grammatical and/or spelling errors	Good Paper contains less than 4 grammatical and/or spelling errors.
