Student is upright sitting in chair with straight back, front of chair, feet on the ground, with instrument held in optimal playing position for the whole performance.
Excellent
Student sits upright in chair with feet on the ground, instrument held in correct playing position for more than 75% of the performance.
Good
Student sits upright in chair, with instrument held in the correct playing position for more than 50% of the performance.
Poor
Student sits in chair with incorrect posture, instrument is held in the correct playing position for less then 50% of the performance.

Superior
All pitches are performed accurately. Student understands the concept of intonation, and can correct problems immediately if they occur.
Excellent
80% to 90% of the pitches are performed accurately. Student generally understands intonation and makes an adequate effort to correct problems.

70% to 80% of the pitches are performed accurately. Student understands intonation, but is not yet secure in the methods to correct problems.
Poor
less then 70% of the pitches are performed accurately. Intonation problems are rarely corrected by student.
