"Passport to Genre" Book Reports
"Book It" Book Report
Every month the student will complete a book report on a text they have independently read at, or above, the sixth grade level. The student is required to chose a different book, from a different genre, each month. Regardless of genre, this rubric will be used to grade completeness, neatness, grammar, and comprehension and content awareness of the text that he/she read.

The report demonstrates detailed comprehension of the main idea/theme.
It was not necessary for the teacher to read the book or "look up" information.

The content in the report demonstrates knowledge of the book.
The report demonstrates comprehension of the main idea/theme.
It was necessary for the teacher to read some parts of the book or to "look up" pieces of information for clarification.

The content in the report demonstrates little knowledge of the book.

The student showed little effort in providing details and seems "just done".

The student showed no effort to provide information/details.
