	Exceeds 4 pts	Meets 3 pts	Progressing 2 pts	Not Progressing 3 pts
Prediction	Exceeds Student gives several ideas about what may occur in the story and gives rich detail, supported by information they have already gathered from the book (pictures, title, etc.).	Meets Student gives several ideas about what may occur in the story.	Progressing Student provides some ideas about what may occur in the story.	Not Progressing Student shows little to no ability to predict what story will be about.
Comprehension	Exceeds Student gives detailed answers to questions about story, supported by evidence in the story (pictures, title, etc.).	Meets Student is able to answer questions about book sufficiently.	Progressing Student shows some understanding of what story was about when questioned.	Not Progressing Student shows little to no understanding of what story was about when questioned.
Retell	Exceeds Student can retell story with rich detail, supported by evidence in the story (pictures, title, etc.).	Meets Student can retell story with sufficient detail.	Progressing Student can retell a basic outline of the story.	Not Progressing Student can retell little to no parts of the story.
Fluency	Exceeds Student reads story fluently with no pauses and no decoding difficulties.	Meets Student reads story at a good pace with few errors.	Progressing Student reads slowly, stopping frequently to decode words.	Not Progressing Student reads haltingly and frequently has difficulty decoding words.
Strategies	Exceeds Student uses reading strategies accurately and independently.	Meets Student uses reading strategies accurately, needs occasional prompting.	Progressing Student sometimes uses reading strategies with frequent prompting.	Not Progressing Student does not use accurately use reading strategies.
